A research presentation turned book set, this work started as a group presentation of a History of Graphic Design textbook section and then was to be developed into a full design piece. The section my group worked from covered the beginning of the printing press. When we separated to develop our own individual projects, I chose an additional text on the early photographic process due to my passion for analog photography.
For each book, I produced section pages using processes that were relevant to the theme of the book. For the printing press book, I hand carved rubber stamps referencing the old carved wood typefaces. For the photography book, I produced prints using Cyanotype chemistry.
To complete the set I contstructed a wooden box themed after a pinhole camera. The books were then perfect handbound, wrapped in a belly band, and kept in their decorative box with a QR code to get to the companion reference website.
